Depending on map size and layer, downloaded maps can take up a lot of free space on your phone. As a general rule of thumb, the larger the saved map area, the more storage it will take up. We suggest periodically deleting saved map files that you aren't frequently using.
You can free up storage in the AllTrails app by deleting maps from your AllTrails account:
Delete maps from your 'My maps' list
You can delete a specific map from your 'My maps' list* by following these steps:
Via iPhone and Android app:
- Tap 'Saved' on the bottom navigation bar
- Select 'Lists' from the tabs at the top of the screen
- Select 'My maps'
- Tap the overflow menu (three dots) in the upper right corner
- Select 'Edit list'
- Tap the minus icon on any map cards that you wish to delete and tap 'Remove' in the pop-up (iOS only)
- Tap 'Done' when you are finished editing your list
Note: Deleting a map from 'My maps' that has been downloaded will also delete the downloaded map and will no longer be listed under your 'Downloads' tab.
Remove a downloaded map layer without deleting the map
Via iPhone and Android app:
- Tap 'Saved' on the bottom navigation bar
- Select 'Downloads' from the tabs at the top of the screen
- Find the map that you'd like to delete and tap the green download arrow at the bottom right of the map card
