Depending on map size and layer, downloaded maps can take up a lot of free space on your phone. As a general rule of thumb, the larger the saved map area, the more storage it will take up. We suggest periodically deleting saved map files that you are not frequently using.
You can free up storage in the AllTrails app by deleting maps from your AllTrails account. There are a few ways to do so.
Delete maps from your maps list
You can delete a specific map by following these steps:
Via iPhone app:
- Open the AllTrails app
- Tap on 'Plan' on the bottom navigation bar
- Select 'Maps' from the tabs at the top of the screen
- Tap the overflow menu (three dots) in the upper right corner
- Select 'Edit'
- Tap the minus icon on the map card to delete the map
Via Android app:
- Open the AllTrails app
- Tap on 'Plan' on the bottom navigation bar
- Select 'Maps' from the tabs at the top of the screen
- Find the map that you'd like to delete
- Tap the overflow menu (three dots) in the upper right corner
- Select 'Edit'
- Tap the minus icon on the map card to delete the map
You can also delete all maps from your maps list by following these steps:
Via iPhone and Android app:
- Open the AllTrails app
- Tap on 'Profile' on the bottom navigation bar
- Tap on 'Settings'
- Scroll down to see 'Downloaded Map Layers' at the bottom of the settings screen
- Select 'Remove All'
Remove a map layer without deleting the map
Via iPhone and Android app:
- Open the AllTrails app
- Tap on 'Plan' on the bottom navigation bar
- Select 'Maps' from the tabs at the top of the screen
- Find the map that you'd like to delete and tap to open
- Tap 'Download More Layers'
- Tap the green icon next to the layer you want to remove
- Tap 'Remove' to confirm
Clear your cached data
If none of the above work you can try to clear your cached data in the AllTrails iPhone app:
- Open the AllTrails app
- Tap on 'Profile' on the bottom navigation bar
- Tap on 'Settings'
- Scroll to the bottom of the screen and select 'Clear All Cached Data'
