Whether you're exploring a place for the first time or trying out a new route at your local park, AllTrails can help you navigate while you're out on the trail so that you don't get lost. AllTrails+ members have the exclusive ability to download maps to your phone for offline use.
Please note that all maps must be downloaded ahead of time while you still have a data connection, whether it be wifi or mobile data — here's how. If you're already offline and without an internet connection, you will not be able to download new maps.
Once a map has been downloaded, your maps are stored locally on your device and are accessible only through the iOS and Android AllTrails apps. Here's how to load your downloaded maps into Navigate:
- Tap 'Saved' on the bottom navigation bar
- Select 'Downloads' from the tabs at the top of the screen (you don't need to be within range of a data signal to access your downloaded maps!)
- Locate the map you want to use and open it
- If on iOS, the trail map will load into Navigate, along with your current location. If on Android, tap 'Map' to load the trail map into Navigate, along with your current location.
- Begin recording your activity by tapping the green 'Start' button
- The planned route from the map that you loaded will remain green; the route that you've traveled will be marked with a blue line.
