You may notice that the app is closing out of what you are viewing if it is left running in the background. When you bring the app back from the background it may not open to the same screen you were previously viewing.
If you are not actively recording your route with the Recorder feature and are instead using the app to explore trails, view and follow along a trail map, etc, iOS will likely shut down the app as there is not enough activity to keep it running in the background. This will especially happen if you are using other apps and have AllTrails running in the background. To prevent a shutdown of the AllTrails app, use recorder to record your trail, which will provide enough activity to make our app a less likely candidate for a shutdown. That way, the app will run in the background and will be on the same screen when you unlock your phone.
If you haven't used Recorder yet, there are a few ways to get to recorder in the AllTrails app:

- If you wish to pause the recorder, tap the red center button again. Tap the button again to continue recording.
