Wrong-turn alerts keep you on track while you navigate, so you'll never miss a turn on the trail.
To use wrong-turn alerts, you must either load a custom map or a downloaded map into Navigate, or you can also press 'Map' from any trail details screen. This will load your route into Navigate so you can follow along the trail using your phone's built-in GPS. While you navigate your activity, you will see your progress along the trail.
If you accidentally wander off the trail, after 50m, AllTrails will send you a notification that you have gone off of your planned route. If your phone is locked, it will show up as a notification on your locked screen. If your phone is open on the Navigate screen, you will see the modal on that screen. If you are an Apple Watch user and your phone is locked or put away, you will get the notification on your watch.
You can initiate the wrong-turn alerts feature by loading a map into Navigate:
Via 'My maps':
- Open the AllTrails app
- Tap on 'Saved' on the bottom navigation bar
- Select 'Lists' from the tabs at the top of the screen
- Select 'My maps'
- Select a map from the list
- The trail map will load into Navigate, along with your current location
- Begin recording your activity by tapping the 'Start' button
Via a trail details page:
- Open the AllTrails app
- While in range of a data signal, tap on the trail card for the trail you want to view
- On the trail details screen, tap the 'Map' button
- The trail map will load into Navigate, along with your current location
- Begin recording your activity by tapping the 'Start' button
If you have gone off-route and want to continue off-route, tap the message on the navigate screen to disable additional messages from being sent. If you are an Apple Watch user, you can also tap the message on the watch. If you go back on the trail and get off-route again, messages will start back up.
