We're excited to announce that AllTrails has acquired GPSies. This opportunity makes our trail information available to an ever wider audience and benefits everyone looking for new places to explore. Together we are excited to expand our global reach and we hope you are too.
We realize you may have some questions about your GPSies account before coming on board. Please review this FAQ and if you have additional questions you can always email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Can I still access GPSies and all of my account information?
Yes! You can still use GPSies.com and access your GPSies account information by logging in here. The GPSies Android and iOS apps will also continue to be available for the time being.
How do I import my data to AllTrails?
We've made it so that if you choose to, all of your GPSies account information can be seamlessly ported over to AllTrails.
If you do not yet have an AllTrails account simply log in to AllTrails using the email address and the password you use for your GPSies account. This will create a new account on AllTrails and automatically populate it with your GPSies account information.
If you don’t remember your GPSies password, you can use the AllTrails 'Forgot Password' link here: https://www.alltrails.com/users/password/new
If you have both a GPSies account and an AllTrails account with the SAME email address, log out of the AllTrails app or AllTrails website and log back in using your same email address and your AllTrails password. If you don’t remember your AllTrails password, you can use the AllTrails 'Forgot Password' link above.
If you have both a GPSies account and an AllTrails account with DIFFERENT email addresses, we can easily merge the two accounts. First you must log out of your existing AllTrails account in the AllTrails app or AllTrails website and log back in to AllTrails with your GPSies account information to activate that account. Then email email@example.com and let us know that you would like your accounts merged and which email address you would like to retain for login.
When you log in to AllTrails it will kick off the import, however the import process can take some time depending on the amount of content you have in your GPSies account. If you still do not see your content after 24 hours please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Please note: If you have an existing AllTrails account and are logged in with that account on the website or in the iOS or Android apps, please log out and log in again to start the import of you GPSies data.
What data will be imported into AllTrails and how do I see it?
The first time you log in to AllTrails, the following GPSies account information will automatically be imported into your AllTrails account:
Your user account information including your name, email address, and location settings.
Your GPSies My Tracks will go directly into your AllTrails 'Recordings' under History>>Recordings or in your AllTrails 'Maps' under Plan>>Maps. Any tracks created on the GPSies website or those that do not have time data associated with them can be found under your AllTrails 'Maps'. All other tracks can be found under your AllTrails 'Recordings.' All photos associated with these tracks will be imported accordingly.
Your GPSies 'My Tracks' that have time data will be imported as public AllTrails recordings unless you have marked your tracks as private on your GPSies account. If they were set to private they will also be private on AllTrails and will only be visible to you. You can always change these recordings to be public if you would like to share them with other AllTrails users, and your friends or family.
If you wish to make your recordings private, you can do so by following these the steps here.
You can access your recordings by following the steps here.
How do I set my profile to private?
By default your profile will be public and visible to the AllTrails community. You can change your profile to be private by following the steps in this article.
What if I do not want to import my content?
If you would like to delete your GPSies account and all of your associated data please email us at email@example.com.
How do I download my tracks on AllTrails?
As an AllTrails user you can download a route from a trail page, as well as files for your Recordings and Maps, and other user's Recordings and Maps. You can learn more about exporting files from AllTrails here.
Why do my tracks have different activities on AllTrails?
AllTrails only allows for one activity type per track. Not all of our activities are the exact same as GPSies. We have mapped the activities from GPSies to the activities available on AllTrails for each track that was imported as an AllTrails 'Recording'. You can see the mapping of activity types below:
|GPSies Activity||AllTrails Activity|
|trail running||trail running|
|racing bike||road biking|
|nordic skiing||cross country skiing|
|randonnee skiing||cross country skiing|
|pack-animal hiking||horseback riding|
|off road driving|
