Hiking in the woods with no trails

I do a lot of hiking in the woods where there are no trails.

I'm trying to figure out how I can use AllTrails+ to start the hike, record the path, save it and follow the exact path back to my starting point. I can't find any information on how to do that.

If this can be done could someone please send me step by step instructions on how to accomplish it?

  You described what you need to do.  You start a hike to record a path and then follow the path back to your starting point.  Manually.
