Screen always on

I would also like to see this feature. Strava has this option while using the app for route guidance.  I prefer the information and interface of the All Trails app over the Strava app though.  Seems like it would be an easy update to add this feature.

This is a critical function for me!

I mount my phone on the bike handlebars - I can't keep touching the screen every 30 seconds to keep it alive while I am riding the bike. It just makes the app unusable.

I was just trying to figure out how to do this after weeks of wishing for it. Sad to see it's not there.
Why would I signup for AllTrails+ without this most of desired features?

At least a lock screen widget or something.

I have just started my one week trial but if this is still an issue I am going to cancel the subscription. A navigation app that goes to sleep is completely useless.

I am surprised AllTrails support did not post a work around in this thread, which is to keep the iOS device in "always on" mode.  Be sure to also disable your device from Auto-Locking. Seems to work. AllTrails please include this actual feature built-in to the App. Most competing apps have this feature built-in. This is a must have feature.

How is it that All Trails wants us to pay for the app, but we have to keep the screen alive while riding a mountain bike trail? I've got an app that came with my ebike that knows how to stay awake!
All the All Trails has over that free app is the trail info, but that's not useful if you can't use it while actually on the trail.

GENE POUQUETTE if you’re using iPhone , temporarily disable phone auto-lock in iOS device settings and the app will remain active. This is the workaround I use.

Thanks for the work around. I'm on the much superior Android 😁, but I figured that's what I will have to do. It's just incredible that an app that is designed for navigation doesn't already do this.
I like everything else about the app, but this makes it almost unusable.

Well this was disappointing to find out.  My favorite trail area has a lot of loops/connectors and it would be nice to be able to see them without unlocking it.

I tried this app today while cycling and it was such PAIN when the screen would turn off when I'm trying to follow directions. It's so frustrating to have to have to keep stopping. Even if I were to unlock the phone the map wouldn't update with my latest location like Google maps does. This is an easy feature that needs to be added.

I can say this will be a deal breaker for me if it isn't changed by the time my subscription is up.

I guess all trails support should really chime in on this. This has been outstanding for a long time. What is the viewpoint of AllTrails regarding this missing functionality competing apps have this feature….it’s fundamental expectation.

What is AllTrails doing about this? It's such a simple feature and without it its impossible to use this when cycling.

Is the Support Team doing anything about this?

It's impossible to go cycling on a trail with the app open on an iPhone or Android device. The screen always goes to sleep, so you need to wake it up. When waking it up, the map doesn't even update keep your latest location as you have progressed much further on in the trail... you need to drag around the map to find out where you are. I have problem after problem while on the trail when I reach a trail with multiple paths, I want to keep cycling and the app should show me which path to take, instead, the map doesn't update and I have to keep stopping. Extremely frustrating.

We just need to Always on display and better tracking so we know where to go while on the trail. Just look at Google Maps, they do it without any issues.

Because of this I have only used it 3x since I got it a few months ago.  This is one of the few times I wish I had done a monthly subscription rather than prepaying as I would have cancelled after the first month.

As mentioned in my post, the workaround though it should be completely unnecessary, it does take care of the issue. That being said, @alltrails you do have paid subscription customers who expect a response from you. You seem to remain silent. All Trails is literally the only Nav app that I use that has this limitation. When can everyone expect the needed enhancement?
