App is really slow and sluggish
I've noticed recently in the last couple months that the All Trails App is really sluggish and slow. It takes a while for the app to respond after I tap on a trail or button. Anyone else having this issue?
I'm on iOS 15.2.1 and All Trails App v14.4.0 (6734)

Same problem here on May 17, 2022 (and for several months before that) with iOS 15.4.1 and Alltrails app 15.3.0. Considering the previous posters had this problem with an older app version, I think it's likely that Alltrails doesn't care much about its app working well - not very nice for a paid service.
To clarify: I am talking about downloaded trails. I don't see why such a trail would be so difficult to work with, since all the data is already on my phone.

I have also been having this problem for months now. The app is nearly useless. Freezes for 30 seconds at a time on most operations. I've had a pro subscription and used the app for years. This freezing issue makes it trash. Fix the @#$% problem or roll it back to a version that works!

At least for now I found a solution - I deleted the app and all its data and then downloaded it again. This meant, of course, that all downloaded maps and all completed hikes were gone. However, it was then very easy and went very fast to download about 10 maps again.
Not perfect, shame on Alltrails actually, but better than before.

June 21, 2022, version shown in app: 15.5.0 (8049), iOS 15.5 iPhone 8; about 1.297GB of "downloaded map types" dedicated to the app (all cached data cleared). Many ~50 maps downloaded in "all trails" format.
Very sluggish offline (when WiFi is deactivated) usage when jumping between screens. About 6-10 seconds to select a trail to see the map/elevation overview page from the "downloads" list. About 16 seconds from arriving on the map/elevation overview page for the mapbox trail map and elevation chart to render. About 6 seconds to go back from the map/elevation overview page to the "downloads" list using the < button at the top of the UI. About 13 seconds to view the "Trail Details" screen, via the ellipsis menu, (which traverses through the "you're offline" screen) but finally shows the Detail screen after those 13 seconds.
Update: Generally even when online those numbers are approximately the same. -
Possibly related: a couple years ago (about 2020) I tried out the Android app and gave up fairly soon because it chewed through battery faster than any other app I used. It seemed quite impractical for use except on short day hikes. I no longer remember if it was also sluggish.
After that experience and as part of a general review of expenses, I stopped as a paying Alltrails member, even though I value the Alltrails web tools used on a laptop. I hope someday to find a thoughtfully designed app that supports route discovery and mapping, and gives high priority to usability in the wild. In the meanwhile I limp along with other web tools and apps, none of which does the job quite well enough.
