Please note that all maps must be downloaded ahead of time while you still have a data connection, whether it be wifi or mobile data — here's how. If you are already offline and without an internet connection, you will not be able to download new maps.
Once a map has been downloaded, your maps are stored locally on your device and are accessible only through the iOS and Android AllTrails apps. There are two ways to load your downloaded maps into Navigator:
- Select 'Downloads' from the tabs at the top of the screen (you do not need to be within range of a data signal to access your downloaded maps!)
- Locate the map you wish to use and tap 'Start Navigating'
- The trail map will load into Navigator, along with your current location
- Begin recording your activity by tapping the green 'Start' button
- The planned route from the map that you loaded will turn semi-opaque once you tap 'Start'; the route that you've traveled will be marked with a darker red line
