Resolving GPS errors on Android

Power Saving mode or Battery Optimisation mode may reduce the GPS accuracy when using Navigate to track your activity. Even if your phone isn't in Power Saving mode, individual apps like AllTrails can be opted into Battery Optimisation. You'll need to disable the battery optimisation setting before navigating.

Note: Android operation system updates may opt you back into Battery Optimisation even if you previously opted out.

You can disable Battery Optimisation by following these steps:

For Android 12 and above: 

  1. Long-press the AllTrails app icon
  2. Tap the info icon
  3. Tap 'Battery'
  4. Select 'Unrestricted' for battery usage

For Android 11 and below:

  1. Long-press the AllTrails app icon
  2. Tap the info icon
  3. Tap 'Battery'
  4. Tap 'Optimise Battery Usage'
  5. Change the dropdown menu from 'Apps Not Optimised' to 'All'
  6. Toggle AllTrails to 'off'
