Available to Plus and Peak members, turn-by-turn directions help you to stay on trail and make the most of your outdoor activities while navigating. When using turn-by-turn, you'll get helpful turn indicators when you're at or nearing a fork in the trail, a full list of upcoming turns and landmarks, and clear notifications when you've gone off the trail.
Key features:
- Static cue sheet: list of turns on trail, accessible by pulling up the drawer via the Navigate tab
- On-trail turn banners: tells you how far away a turn is and which streets to turn on
- Live cue sheet: dynamically updates based on how far away you are from a turn or point of interest
- Wrong-turn alert: alerts you when you're off route
FAQ
How do I get turn-by-turn directions?
If you're a Plus or Peak member on a trail where turn-by-turn directions are available, you'll automatically see them at the top of your Navigate screen.
I'm on a trail where turn-by-turn directions and/or street names are missing.
Some trails will not have turn-by-turn directions or street names due to data constraints. You can check to see whether the trail has on-trail directions in the Navigate drawer (the faint grey line at the bottom of the map, you can pull that up with your finger). If you see an issue where the trail isn't matching the directions, please reach out to us at support@alltrails.com with the trail name and area of concern.
Will TBT directions drain my battery?
No, turn-by-turn directions should not have a significant impact on your battery life while navigating.
Will TBT directions work offline?
Turn-by-turn directions will be accessible offline for any trail that you've downloaded.
Will this work with a weak GPS signal or if I'm in battery optimisation mode on Android?
It will work in both cases, but the timing of turn notifications within weak GPS areas may be impacted.
How do I disable TBT directions?
You can swipe away the banner at the top. (We're planning on releasing a toggle to turn off turn-by-turn directions permanently.)
Will TBT work if I do a trail in reverse or start it midway?
Yes, you should be able to see directions as long as they're available.
