You can connect Apple Health by following these steps:
Via iPhone app:
- Tap 'Profile' on the bottom navigation bar and tap the Settings gear icon at the top right corner
- Tap the 'Apple Health' button
- Tap 'Health app' under 'Permissions' to open up the Apple Health app
- Tap the 'Sharing' tab on the bottom of the page
- Tap 'Apps' and select AllTrails
- Select either 'Turn On All' or select the activity you want to sync
Your AllTrails app will now be connected to Apple Health.
If you go to the Apple Health app, tap your profile picture at the top of the screen, and open the Apps tab (under privacy), you'll see AllTrails. If you select AllTrails and go to 'Data', you'll see your individual activity stats from AllTrails. It's worth noting that only one app can track activities at a time. If you decide to use Apple Fitness during a live activity, you will not be able to do so concurrently with the AllTrails app.
If you ever decide to disconnect AllTrails from Apple Health, just follow these steps:
- Open the Apple Health app
- Tap your profile image at the top of your screen and open the Apps tab under Privacy
- Select AllTrails
- Select 'AllTrails Data' at bottom of the screen
- Tap 'Turn Off All'
Disconnecting and reconnecting to Apple Health will only sync future activities, and will not sync historical activities.
What's the difference between the two Apple Health integration options?
In the AllTrails app, go to Profile, then Settings, then Apple Health. You’ll see two integration options:
'Import Apple activities to AllTrails’
This feature allows you to automatically import activities recorded with your Apple Health app into AllTrails. If you enable this, all future activities will sync automatically and appear in your Activities section with the label “Recorded with Apple Health.” In this section, there is an option to choose your activity privacy level. Any changes to this activity privacy setting will apply app wide. The selected privacy setting will apply to all future activities.
Note: Your Apple Health-synced activities will respect the default privacy level that you've set for 'Activities' in AllTrails, rather than your Apple Health privacy level.
'Send AllTrails activities to Apple’
This feature allows you to automatically send your AllTrails activities to Apple Health.
