We've partnered with T-Mobile to bring satellite connectivity to our iOS and Android apps. T-Satellite users in the US are now able to use key features in areas without cellular service, including route navigation, searching and filtering trails, and viewing trail details. Plus members will also be able to live share their activities and locations via T-Satellite.
Who can access this feature in the AllTrails app?
- T-Mobile customers in the US with T-Satellite service enabled
- US customers of other carriers who have purchased T-Satellite as a standalone service
How do I get access?
- T-Satellite is already included in certain T-Mobile plans; if you have T-Mobile service and you're unsure whether you have T-Satellite on your plan, you can check on the T-Mobile website.
- If you're a T-Mobile customer and you don't yet have T-Satellite, you can add it to your existing plan via the above link, or upgrade your plan to one that includes T-Satellite.
- If you aren't a T-Mobile customer, you can purchase T-Satellite as a standalone service for $10/month by calling 1-844-221-8603 or visiting a T-Mobile store.
Are there any app features that won't work well with T-Satellite?
Because of the nature and speed of satellite connection, there are a few AllTrails app features that won't be accessible while using T-Satellite:
- uploading photos
- map downloads
- 3D trail previews
- animated trail recaps
- community features
- real-time plant, mushroom, and insect identification with Outdoor Lens (your scans will be saved in your logbook and ready to identify when you're back online)
- The Explore tab and searching within maps are available with T-Satellite, but you may experience slower load times
- You'll be able to submit reviews while connected with T-Satellite, but they won't sync to your account or be visible to you until you're back within cellular service or wifi
- For optimal feature access in remote areas, Plus members can combine map downloads in advance with T-Satellite coverage on-trail to use AllTrails anywhere
