Elevation Graph
The elevation graph is a great way to see your current or upcoming elevation for the trail you've loaded into Navigate. You can view the elevation graph in Navigate by following these steps:
Via the iPhone or Android app:
- Load any route into Navigate to follow along — learn more about using Navigate
- Press 'Start' to begin recording your activity
- Swipe up on the bottom navigation drawer to view your planned elevation graph
- If you're on the planned route, your location will appear on the graph as a blue dot
- Shading:
- Yellow shading represents an uphill grade of 6-11%
- Red shading represents an uphill grade of 11% or steeper
- Press and hold your finger on the elevation chart to see the grade and elevation for any point along the trail
Note: If you use Navigate without a specified route loaded, you'll only see your recorded elevation when following these steps. Planned elevation and the associated tools only apply when a specific route is loaded into Navigate.
Elevation Mode (Android)
Elevation Mode in Navigate gives you an at‑a‑glance view of how much distance and elevation you have left on climbs while you’re on the trail. This is currently available on Android for all AllTrails members, and only for routes with noticeable uphill sections.
Via the Android app:
- With your route loaded in Navigate, swipe up on the bottom navigation drawer to preview the list of climbs for your route and your elevation graph showing where the climbs will occur. Elevation Mode will trigger during the shaded sections of your elevation graph.
- Press Start to begin recording your activity.
- As you enter a climb, look for the elevation pill at the bottom of the map showing a quick summary of distance and elevation remaining for that climb, updated in real time as you move.
- Tap the elevation pill to open the navigation drawer and see the full list of climbs and your blue location dot on the elevation graph.
- Once you get to the top of the climb, the elevation pill will show a checkmark showing you've completed the climb, and the elevation pill will drop down.
Note: You can swipe down on the elevation pill to hide it. It will hide for the remainder of that climb and reappear for the next climb.
