If you're recording an activity in the AllTrails mobile app, you can add a waypoint during navigation to mark a point of interest along the way.
How to add a waypoint while navigating
Open the AllTrails navigator while recording your activity.
Tap the arrow in the lower-right corner to open your activity details.
Swipe up on the bottom drawer to see more of your activity stats.
Tap Add Waypoint.
Select the type of waypoint you want to add. Options include Overnight spot, Water source, Navigation, Landmark, Event marker, or Other.
Enter a title for your waypoint and add a description if you'd like.
Review the waypoint coordinates shown at the bottom of the screen.
Update the privacy settings for the waypoint.
Tap 'Save' to save the waypoint to your activity recording.
Privacy options when adding a waypoint
When adding a waypoint, you may see two different privacy-related controls:
A setting that keeps a waypoint private to the specific route or map it was added to. If it is private to that route, it will not appear across other maps in Your Waypoints.
A setting that makes a waypoint available to potentially be included in Community Waypoints. This does not guarantee it will appear in the community layer, but it can be considered for inclusion if it meets server-side criteria.
Where to find your waypoint later
After you finish and save your recording, you can view your waypoint by opening the saved activity from the Activities section of your profile.
Waypoints added during navigation are associated with the recorded activity itself, not the underlying verified trail or custom route you may be following.
