AllTrails supports search and rescue efforts and takes user safety and privacy seriously. The information below outlines how agencies can work with us. If you are experiencing an emergency, contact local law enforcement.
1. Emergency data requests (missing persons)
- Requests for user data must come directly from law enforcement or authorized agencies; for privacy, we are unable to provide user information to friends or family members without official law enforcement involvement.
- Contact: please send requests to legal@alltrails.com
- Requirements: Include as much identifying information as possible - including the person’s email address associated with their AllTrails account and/or a link their a public profile
- Review Process: All requests are reviewed and handled in accordance with applicable laws and our privacy policies. AllTrails aims to respond to verified emergency requests within 24 business hours.
Please note that while AllTrails is committed to assisting in recovery and safety efforts, our ability to provide actionable data may be limited depending on an individual’s activity and device settings.
If a user’s activity or profile is public, it may be accessible directly within the AllTrails platform - we recommend checking for publicly available information as part of your search process.
2. Safety alerts and trail communications
- AllTrails partners with land managers and agencies through the Public Lands Program (PLP)
- Through the PLP, partners can:
- Share trail closures
- Post safety alerts and warnings
- Provide important updates to trail users
If your team is interested in these capabilities, publiclands@alltrails.com can help connect you with the appropriate contact.
3. General inquiries and coordination
- For general questions about partnerships or support, please reach out via our support channels and we will route your request to the appropriate team
