Many AllTrails routes are created through member contributions. When a new route is suggested to AllTrails, it’s submitted to our moderators. This group of trail experts diligently validates the information submitted before adding it to our verified routes on AllTrails.
Our goal is that every trail on AllTrails is accurate and hand-curated because these are the routes that our members rely on for navigation when they use AllTrails.
How often do the verified routes receive updates?
Our team uses a combination of sources to add, maintain, and update trail information. These include park officials’ insights, proprietary data and automation tools, and member feedback and reviews.
Seasonal changes, natural disasters, or maintenance to a park or trail may affect the routes on AllTrails, and our dedicated moderators work hard to provide our members with the best outdoor experience possible.
Do you work with parks or land managers to validate the information on AllTrails?
In 2023, AllTrails launched its Public Lands Program, a free resource for land managers and their non-profit partners. This program allows partners to manage trail information for the areas they manage and communicate in real time to our members through trail and park page-level alerts.
Be sure to check the trail pages for hand-curated information from rangers and trail staff on the trails you visit! Learn more at publiclands.alltrails.com.
Does AllTrails automatically update based on information from organizations like the National Park System?
AllTrails is working every day to improve the information on our parks and trails. Recently, we launched a new feature that brings our members park-wide alerts directly from the US National Parks website. Be sure to check out our park pages for the most up-to-date information on the National Park you plan to visit.
