The AllTrails community heatmap displays areas of low and high trail activity, using colors to indicate the popularity of each area. This new feature helps members find serene and peaceful trail experiences and explore popular spots. Community heatmaps are exclusive to Peak members.
Accessing Community Heatmaps
- Apply the heatmap:
- Open the layer menu
- Select Overlays
- Select Community heatmap
- Where to use it: The heatmap can be used in Explore, the trail page map, and Navigate.
- Learn more: Tap the "info" icon to get more information about the heatmap and how to adjust privacy settings.
**When using heatmaps to explore new routes, be sure to follow posted signs and respect private property, culturally sensitive areas, and local regulations.

Will all my recordings be shown on the heatmap?
Only public recordings will be displayed on the heatmap. If you wish to remove your recordings from the heatmap, you can change the activity privacy setting to "private."
