Depending on map size and map type, downloaded maps can take up a lot of free space on your phone. As a general rule of thumb, the larger the saved map area, the more storage it will take up. We suggest periodically deleting saved map files that you aren't frequently using.
You can remove downloaded maps from your phone by following these steps:
- Open the AllTrails app
- Tap 'Saved' on the bottom navigation bar
- Select 'Downloads' from the tabs at the top of the screen
- Find the trail that you'd like to delete and tap the white download arrow to the right of it
- Tap the white download arrow next to any downloaded map type you want to remove
- Tap 'Remove' to confirm, or 'Keep' to back out of the process
You can also delete all downloaded maps by following these steps in the app:
- Tap 'Profile' on the bottom navigation bar
- Tap the Settings gear icon at top right
- Scroll down to the 'Downloaded map types' option under the 'Data' header
- Select 'Remove all' to confirm the deletion, or 'Keep' to back out of the process
If you're using an iPhone and the above steps don't work, you can try to clear your cached data in the AllTrails app:
- Tap 'Profile' on the bottom navigation bar
- Tap the Settings gear icon at top right
- Scroll down and under the 'Data' header, select 'Clear all cached data'
