Offline Areas allows you to select a specific geographic area on the map and download all the trails and map tiles within that area for offline use. Instead of downloading individual trails or entire parks, you can now download exactly the area you need.
Offline Areas are available to AllTrails Plus and Peak members, and can be accessed via the AllTrails mobile app. Just like downloading maps or parks within the app, you'll need an internet connection — either wifi or mobile data — to download. You also must have sufficient storage space on your device.

How large an area can I download at a time?
There's a limit to the size of the map area you can download at once. If your selected area is too large, you'll see a "Zoom in" button instead of the Download button. Simply zoom in to create a smaller area selection.
Can I download multiple areas at the same time?
Yes, you can download multiple areas at a time, up to your device’s storage limitations. Note that download times can be longer the more trails you download at once.
Can I download multiple areas with overlapping trails?
Yes, you can download multiple areas that have overlapping trails. Each area will be saved as a separate download in the Areas tab, even if they contain some of the same trails.
Will my area keep downloading if I background or close my app?
On Android, yes, your download will continue in the background until it’s complete.
On iOS, downloads may continue for a short time after backgrounding the app, but to be sure, check back in on your download status or keep the app open until the download completes.
Can I use or apply filters to my downloaded area?
Yes, any filters you had applied when creating your downloaded area will be preserved with your downloaded content. This includes difficulty levels, trail types, and other parameters. These filters will remain active when viewing your downloaded area offline.
How do I delete a trail that belongs to multiple areas?
Individual trails that are part of a downloaded area cannot be removed separately. If a trail belongs to multiple areas, you'll need to remove each area that contains that trail. The app will show you which areas a trail belongs to when you try to manage its download.
Is there a limit to how many areas I can download?

Can I rename my downloaded areas?
