Trip Assistant helps you plan your next outdoor adventure by recommending trail itineraries based on your travel plans and activity preferences. Available to Plus and Peak members, Trip Assistant works with details you provide – travel dates, destinations, desired difficulty, and more – to suggest an optimal mix of trails for your trip.
The suggested itineraries will be organized by day, and if you like what you see, you can save them as lists for future reference.
How to access Trip Assistant
On AllTrails.com, click the 'Create a trip' button just below the main search bar. You can also access it via the 'Explore' menu. Just hover over 'Explore' in the top navigation bar, then click 'Create a trip'.
In the AllTrails app, you'll find Trip Assistant below the search bar when you tap it from within the 'Explore' tab. You can also access it from any national park page by swiping up on the bottom drawer.
How to use Trip Assistant and optimize your results
When you open the assistant, it will start by asking "What are you planning?". You can answer with a few words that include a) your destination, and b) your planned activity type(s). For example: "hiking and mountain biking in Daniel Boone National Forest."
You can then enter your travel dates. These can be specific dates chosen from a calendar module, or you can just provide the number of travel days and the month if you don't yet know your exact dates.
You'll then be asked to select which kinds of trails you're looking to explore on your trip. Select your desired difficulty level(s), then choose any trail features that align with what you're looking for – near water, dog-friendly, etc. You can also manually enter your own desired trail features.
The final section is a text field where you can add any additional details about your travel plans. This field is optional, but adding key details here will give the Trip Assistant more information to work with and will help it to provide the best possible trail recommendations.
